Individual hospitalized after being assaulted near presidential residence

The assault was reported on Friday night

Maldives Police Service has launched an investigation into an assault that took place near Mulee’aage on Friday night.

The police institution received reports of the assault at around 7:59pm on Friday.

Police confirmed that the victim of the attack has been hospitalized for treatment, at Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital.

Authorities are yet to determine the reason behind the attack.

Further investigations are underway.

This comes less than 24 hours after another violent altercation was reported between two individuals in the capital city.

No arrests were made in connection to the case and no serious injuries were also reported.
