Some ex-lawyers, judges trying to show that Yameen's trial was fraudulent: MDP
Press release also mentioned the investigation of the judges in relation to the recent audio leaks
MDP said that president Solih and his administration would never conduct themselves in a way to influence the courts.
How the court proceedings went was baseless.

The news conference held by former judges and lawyers on September 4, was held only to convince the public that the trial of former president Abdulla Yameen was fraudulent and unaccountable, says the main ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).

In the party’s press release, they suggest that it is clear that the statements regarding how the court proceedings went, made by the judges and lawyers were baseless.

They also note that those who conducted the press conference are none other than those who have had disciplinary issues confirmed by the Judicial Service Commission (JSC), and those who were to be dismissed through the People's Majlis before they resigned themselves.

Noting that this act is part of influencing the higher courts and confusing the truth, MDP assured that president Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and his administration would never conduct themselves in a way to influence courts.

The press release also mentioned the investigation of the judges in relation to the recent audio leaks by the Judicial Service Commission.

Highlighting that JSC has sought from the Maldives Police Service (MPS) to conduct a forensic investigation regarding the case, MDP added that the party wants an accountable, fully fledged investigation to be conducted speedily by police institution.

Irrespective of the individual, MDP added that influencing both courts and judges are serious issues, concluding that the party will not tolerate anything of the sort.
