Maldives Police Service (MPS) has arrested an individual for making threats on the life of Speaker of Parliament and Former President Mohamed Nasheed.
Media official at the police institution, revealed that the individual was arrested from Meedhoo island in Raa atoll and is accused of making threats to the Majlis speaker via social media.
The man was arrested under a court order, on Monday.
The case is currently under further investigation.
Ever since the terrorist attack which took place in the heart of capital Malé City on May 6, security forces and law enforcement officers have been prioritizing issues linked to extremism and terrorist acts.
