A Brazilian woman was arrested at a Maldivian airport on Friday with 3.197kg of drugs.
The 31-year-old who landed in Maldives (VIA) on Friday afternoon was stopped by Maldives Customs Service officers due to suspicious behaviour.
The officers proceeded to check her luggage, where they found a suspicious substance. Customs said that initial tests confirmed the substance was positive for cocaine.
Further, Customs said a total of 3.197kg of drugs was seized from the woman with a market value of at least MVR 15,985,000.
While the woman, along with the narcotics seized have been handed over to police for further investigation, a Brazilian man attempting to smuggle drugs concealed inside his body was arrested in December last year.
