First Lady Fazna Ahmed has met with the members of the Malé City's Women’s Development Committee (WDC), upon their request.

According to a tweet by the President’s Office, WDC requested to meet with First Lady Fazna, in order to discuss key issues of interest and concerns of the committee.

In the month of July, the first couple had visited three islands in South Thiladhunmathi atoll. During their trip First Lady Fazna met with the WDC of HDh. Hanimaadhoo and HDh. Kulhudhuffushi. In the course of the meeting both committees had shared their concerns with the First Lady who shared her views and possible solutions.  

In her meeting with the members of HDh. Kulhudhuffushi City's WDC, discussions regarding their need to create a platform to sell food products produced by women, improving the opportunities for women in sports and concerns about challenges faced by women in obtaining higher education was discussed. Furthermore, in her meeting with the WDC member of HDh. Hanimaadhoo, similar issues were discussed.

The First Lady ensured both committees that their voices had been heard and encouraged them to continue with their strategic plans and collaborate with other institutions to attain their goals. She then shared her ideas on broadening the role of women in city development.
