HA. Ihavandhoo island’s harbour development project is now 57 percent completed.

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) stated that the Ihavandhoo harbour development project is proceeding at a fast pace. They added that 57 percent of the work within the project is now finished.

MTCC said that the previous harbour’s pavement casting work commenced on 2nd August, Monday.

Earlier, MTCC’s CEO Adam Azim, on the subject of the Ihavandhoo harbour, said that the venture will conclude within the next couple of months. He added that the matter was discussed with the island council and the citizens as well, and that citizen’s opinions were highly considered in this project.

This development includes the construction of 284 meters of the outer area, 178 meters of revetment, pavement construction, installation of 27 bulbs ramping and more.

The development project which saw an expenditure of MVR 51.7 million, is supposed to be finished in 400 days. Ministry of National Planning and Infrastructure awarded the project to the state-owned company on 26 August 2019.

Ihavandhoo’s most thriving business venture is fishing. Over 3,000 people reside there.
