The appointment was made under Article 115(f) of the Maldives constitution

State ministers have been appointed to two ministries.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih made the appointments to the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Technology as well as Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation on Monday.

Appointed State Minister to the Environment Ministry is Khadeeja Naseem, and Ahmed Afzal Ibrahim as Minister of State for the Transport Ministry.

The appointment was made under Article 115(f) of the Maldives constitution, which vests the power to appoint, dismiss and accept the resignation of members of the cabinet and such officials necessary for the proper functioning of the duties of his office, to the president.

The newly appointed State Minister of Environment attained a Master of Environment from the University of Melbourne, Australia and also has eight years of experience working in global organizations, NGOs and several other government agencies.

Khadeeja filled the position of Environment and Climate Specialist and the ministry prior to her appointment.

State Minister for Transport Afzal attained his Bachelor of Computer Science in Mobile Computing from the Limkokwing University of Creative Technology in Malaysia and has many years of experience in the field from previous positions filled, working for the government and private sector.

Prior to his appointment Afzal served as the State Minister for Environment.
