A further two people have died with Covid-19 in the Maldives, pushing the total deaths to 205.

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) revealed that a 55-year-old Indian man passed away while receiving treatment at the Hulhumale’ Medical Facility (HMF) at 1:30am on Saturday

Further, a 41-year-old local man admitted at the same facility succumbed to Covid-19 complications at 5:19am on Saturday, making him the 205th victim of Covid-19 in the Maldives.

As per the statistics released by HPA, a total of 111 deaths from Covid-19 were confirmed between April 28 and June 5 with a record number of deaths seen in May; 88 deaths.

44 deaths have been recorded thus far in June.

The island nation has reported a total of 71,498 Covid-19 cases since the first one was detected in March 2020. And with the 65,178 recoveries recorded, there are currently less than 6,100 active cases across the island with 53 patients receiving treatment at medical facilities.

The latest government daily figures also show that a total of 314,903 people had a first dose of a coronavirus vaccine while 181,759 had their second dose by Thursday.
