Maldives reported its 200th fatality to Covid-19 on Wednesday.
67 patients are currently receiving treatment at hospitals across the island nation.
While the government began easing Covid-19 restrictions last year following a decline in cases, a recent spike later confirmed as the "fourth wave" forced authorities to strengthen Covid-19 restrictions especially in the capital. This includes an unofficial lockdown of the city, with a curfew and residents requiring permits to be out even during non-curfew hours.
While the curfew has been reduced to 4pm to 4am from this Wednesday, individual exercises are allowed from 4am to 8am with no permits required.
Since the measures were strengthened in mid-May, reported daily cases have been decreasing gradually as well as hospitalizations.
