Saudi Arabia limited this year's Hajj slots to 60,000 residents of the kingdom

Maldives Hajj Corporation Limited has cancelled this year’s hajj trips and deferred reservations by one year.

In an announcement, the corporation revealed that the decision was reached following the Saudi Kingdom’s announcement that this year’s hajj pilgrimage will be limited to 60,000 residents within the kingdom. This was a measure taken against the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

Those who have already made payments with the company and made reservations will be given the chance in order of reservations, next year.

Implemented changes to the pilgrimage slots have also been published in the corporation’s website.

The ban on international visitors for Hajj 1442, by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia comes similarly to that of 2020. This was done regarding the continued risks stemming from the global Covid-19 pandemic. Only those who have been vaccinated against the pandemic, between 18 – 65 years of age will be given the chance within the kingdom to participate. Those who suffer from chronic illnesses and comorbidities will not be allowed to partake in Hajj pilgrimage of 1442.

Hajj is among the five pillars of Islam and every Muslim in good health and are able to afford it, must perform the pilgrimage at least once.
