Death of a Maldivian hajj pilgrim
Maldivian hajj pilgrim who died on Friday, buried
 
The Maldivian pilgrim was in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to perform this year’s Hajj pilgrimage
 
He passed away while receiving treatment at the Saudi German Hospital in Mecca
 
His final rites took place at the Masjid al-Haram

The Maldivian pilgrim who died while performing this year’s Hajj pilgrimage on Friday, has been laid to rest.

The deceased has been identified as Ali Hassan, 72, native of Maaenboodhoo island of Dhaalu atoll.

The Maldivian pilgrim was in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to perform this year’s Hajj pilgrimage, through the Maldives Hajj Corporation.

He passed away while receiving treatment at the Saudi German Hospital in Mecca, at around 06:17pm (Maldives time) on Friday.

The Hajj Corporation revealed that his final rites took place at the Masjid al-Haram following Asr prayer on Saturday. He was buried at the Maqbarat-ash-Shuhada’ haram in Mecca.

This comes at a time another Maldivian Hajj pilgrim who went missing was found dead in the early hours of Friday, four days after he went missing.

Deceased is Mohamed Naseem Ali, 72, native of Maakurathu island of Raa atoll.

Naseem's body was discovered near Jabal al-Nour, a mountain region in Mecca, in the early hours of Friday.

Further, two more Maldivian Hajj pilgrims in critical condition are currently receiving treatment in ICU as well.
