With newer and enhanced recipes, a new edition of late Naaila Ibrahim Kalyfaan’s cookbook, ‘Zeenaar’ has been launched.
The new edition of ‘Zeenaar’ was launched by First Lady Fazna Ahmed on Wednesday and was published by one of Naaila’s daughters.
‘Zeenaar’ is dedicated to Naaila’s daughters and students she taught in Aminiya School during her time as a long-serving educator. Naaila’s children are Leena Zahir Hussain, Lubna Zahir Hussain and Vaail Zahir Hussain.
First Lady Fazna admired and praised Naaila for her dedication to preparing children for adulthood, and applauded her for standing against discriminating and advocating for equality.
Further the First Lady expressed hope that the cookbook would be useful to all members of the society, especially those who value and advocate for gender equality.
An extensive range of traditional local recipes as well as recipes for international cuisines are featured in ‘Zeenaar’.
Naaila, wife of Dr. Mohamed Zahir Hussain, the first chancellor of Islamic University of Maldives, passed away due to Covid-19 complications on 17 April 2021.
The long-serving teacher at Aminiya School passed had been suffering from illness for a long period of time before her demise. Naaila is known for her long-term service in the education sector and she had also served over 25 years at Aminiya School from the 1970s to 1990s.
Naails is survived by three children and spouse Dr. Zahir, who served in different posts of the cabinet during former president Maumoon Abdul Gayoom’s tenure.
Daughter of formerly renowned businessman in the 1950s and 1980s, Dhidhdhoo Ibrahim Kaleyfaan, the deceased is also sibling of Ali Hashim, current Governer at Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) and former Minister of Defense Tholhath Ibrahim.
Upon Naaila’s passing, the First Lady had extended her condolences to the mourning family.
