Police and military officers have undergone a focused training exercise for the local council elections, scheduled to start at 8:00 am on Saturday.

The exercise was conducted all over capital city Malé on Friday evening. Officers had met with commanders of the election’s operation, including Chief Superintendent of Police Hamdhoon Rasheed.

The Maldives National Defence Force’s senior officers and commanders of its central region division had participated in the exercise.

Officers who are charged road safety and security at polling booths had also been briefed during the exercise.
