A salvage team from the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) is actively working to refloat a vessel that ran aground.
MNDF reported that the boat was travelling to Haa Alif atoll from the capital city with 50 tonnes of diesel onboard, when it ran aground a patch of reef in Shaviyani atoll.
Two expatriates and a Maldivian were onboard at the time of the incident.
The authority received reports of “Snow” running aground in Shaviyani atoll, a little past 3:09am on Tuesday and dispatched a team of the MNDF Northern Area Coastguard to salvage the vessel.
MNDF is yet to disclose details of the extent of damage to the vessel due to the incident.
