110 re-registration forms for the upcoming Local Council and Women's Development Committee (WDC) elections have been submitted to the Elections Commission (EC) by Wednesday, with the commission re-opening the call to seek vote officials for voting stations across the country.

The Local Council and WDC elections for 2021 are scheduled to be held on 10 April, just before the holy month of Ramazan.

President of the Elections Commission (EC) Ahmed Shareef tweeted regarding the re-registration process on Tuesday, calling on citizens to not wait for the last moment to re-register as this year's elections were being conducted on a very tight schedule.

The EC calls for all voters to recheck their voting addresses, with the opportunity to re-register to vote in a location aside from a citizen's listed permanent address to be open until 11 March 2021. As voting stations will not be established in London, UK and Kuala Lampur Malaysia, those who wish to vote from those locations will have to re-register with the Elections Commission. Those who are casting votes in the elections from resorts and prisons across the Maldives are also required to re-register prior to the 11 March deadline.

Voters can verify their voting address from the EC's website at (www.elections.gov.mv). Voters may also send VR space their ID Number to 1414 to verify their present voting address.

In preparation for the upcoming elections, the EC has also re-opened the call to seek vote officials for voting stations. The commission has stated that they will be accepting applications until enough officials have been appointed as needed, which is expected to be somewhere around 7,000 to 8,000 officials.

The EC has noted difficulty in recruiting vote officials for the Local Council and Women's Development Committee Elections, and has been continuing efforts to seek them through political parties and various organizations.
