An additional positive case of Covid-19 was detected in Addu on Friday, bringing the city's total Covid-19 tally up to 64.
Information publicized by the Addu Emergency Operations Center (AEOC) shows that a total of 64 people have now tested positive for Covided-19 from Addu, all of which are currently active cases.
The AEOC also revealed that as of now, residents of 214 buildings in Addu remain in quarantine, and a total of 345 people have been identified as direct contacts of positive cases on the island.
The 64 positive cases in Addu correspond to 26 positive cases detected from Hulhudhoo and Meedhoo. An additional 20 positive cases have been confirmed in Hithadhoo. Further, 14 people have contracted Covid-19 from Feydhoo, along with four other persons from Maradhoo-Feydhoo.
The AEOC revealed that authorities have been taking on average 157 samples a day, and that only one out of the city's 64 positive Covid-19 cases corresponded to patient receiving in0hospital care for the infection.
Two clusters of Covid-19 have been identified in Addu City thus far. This includes the cluster that developed among expat workers from a Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) development site on the island, in addition to those who tested positive in relation to an Aviation Security Command Training session held earlier this year.
