With 50 new cases for Covid-19 being reported on Friday, the number of people who have tested positive for Covid-19 in the Maldives is now 14,375.
Statistics publicized by the Health Protection Agency (HPA) show that 27 out of the 50 new cases had been from the Greater Male' Region, 16 from residential islands and seven from operational resorts.
These are from the 3,188 samples tested for Covid-19 within 24 hours.
An additional 11 recoveries were recorded by sunset on Friday, bringing the number of total recoveries in the country up to 13,474; this represents a 93.46 percent recovery rate for people infected with the virus in Maldives.
The new developments have pushed the total number of active coronavirus cases in the country to 845.
Out of the active infections, 61 patients are currently hospitalized for treatment. This is three more than the previous day where 58 patients had been receiving in-hospital care for Covid-19.
49 patients have died from Covid-19 complications in the Maldives, which is a Covid-mortality rate of 0.34 percent.
Healthcare workers have tested a total of 358,426 samples for Covid-19 since the first case of Covid-19 was discovered in Maldives on 7 March last year.
