The individual was found dead at sea in Hulhumalé

Authorities have discovered an elderly man, dead at sea.

The body was discovered at sea, in Phase Two of Hulhumalé.

Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that they received reports of the incident at around 12:20pm on Friday and that deceased is an 86-year-old Maldivian man.

MPS cited doctors at Hulhumalé Hospital having pronounced him dead-upon-arrival.

The police institution further revealed that they are currently investigating the death, no further details including the cause of the death have been provided.
