Maldives Customs Service (MCS) has confiscated MVR 42,000 worth of amphetamine being smuggled into the country through the post office.
Customs said the drugs were discovered on January 10 while they were screening goods being imported to the Maldives via post, adding that the substance had tested positive for amphetamine during initial investigation.
It said that 14g of amphetamine with a street value of at least MVR 42,000 was seized, but did not disclose from where the package was delivered from.
The case has since been forwarded to the Maldives Police Service, and the confiscated narcotics have been handed over to them as well.
