Maldives reported 44 new Covid-19 cases on Sunday, which pushes the country’s total case count to 14,109.

Further, with the 28 additional recoveries reported on Sunday, a total of 13,336 patients have recovered from the virus in the island nation while there have been 49 deaths.

This pushes the country's active coronavirus cases to 717, from Saturday’s 701.

While 44 new cases were announced on Sunday, there were a total of 231 infections reported last week, out of the 16,872 samples tested within the period. The highest daily rise during the week was reported on Friday, which was 52 infections.

Out of the 13,336 cases confirmed in the Maldives, over 62 percent are locals while Bangladeshis, the country’s largest migrant worker population, comes second at 24 percent.
