Saudi Arabia is committed to working with the Maldivian government to further enhance relations.

While the country’s newly appointed Ambassador to the Maldives, Matrek Abdullah Al-Ajalin Aldosari, presented his credentials to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Monday, he met with Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid afterwards.

The minister congratulated Aldosari on his appointment as Saudi Arabia’s resident ambassador to Maldives and wished him success, while the ambassador assured commitment to working with the Maldivian government to further enhance the relations between the two countries.

The two also discussed on further strengthening the existing ties between Maldives and Saudi Arabia “through collaboration in areas of mutual concern”.

Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Khaleel, Foreign Secretary Abdul Ghafoor Mohamed, Foreign Secretary and Joint Secretary Abdul Waris Saeed, accompanied Minister Shahid at the meeting.

The “strong bilateral ties between the two countries and the potential for cooperation and collaboration in the future” were also discussed during a separate meeting between Ambassador Aldosari and State Minister Khaleel.

President Solih highlighted the Saudi government’s to Maldives throughout the years during his meeting with Aldosari on Monday, and relayed his administration’s determination to “positively engage” with the Saudi Government on all matters of mutual interest.

Both the president and ambassador expressed commitment to working together to keep the Saudi-Maldives relationship “strong and enduring”.
