Health Protection Agency (HPA) has publicized the instances in which individuals can travel to other residential islands from the capital, without having to quarantine, for a five day period.
While some previous guideline led to the belief that this applies to political events, Sunday's guideline details the seven instances where short-term travel without quarantine is permitted; cable and media network services; banking service; water supply, electricity, and utility services; health services and provision of immediate services; maintenance services; projects run by the government and private parties; as well as general work related to public service.
While individuals are allowed to travel from Male’ to other residential islands to provide essential services or undertake a project, they are required to seek approval and share all required details with the respective island councils.
HPA also noted resorts must continue to follow the guideline on ‘Public health interventions to prevent Covid-19 transmission in the Tourism sector’ for the essential services related travels.
Authorities have been easing Covid-19 safety rules as the country continues to see a decline in daily cases, especially in the capital region.
