Treatment is being provided for an individual injured in a fire that broke out in a café in Majeedhee Magu of Maldives capital, Malé City.
Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) revealed that the fire broke out in Salman Café on Friday morning and that they received the report of the fire at around 11:15am.
The injured individual in the fire, identified as an expatriate worker, was rushed to ADK Hospital for treatment and doctors are yet to clarify the extent of the expat’s injuries.
MNDF has since revealed that the expatriate has been transferred to Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) under the supervision of the Maldives Police Service (MPS).
The fire was controlled within less than half an hour, a little after 11:30am.
It was revealed that the fire broke out after a towel on top of a gas cylinder caught fire.
Further investigations into the fire incident are currently underway.
Although there were reports of employees at the café having fled the scene when fire and rescue officials arrived at the scene, the police is yet to confirm this.
