The four individuals injured in the fire aboard a boat docked near Thinadhoo island of Gaafu Dhaalu atoll are “doing well”.

The incident aboard “Raasthaa” boat took place at around 12:15am on Monday, and was reported to authorities by 12:34am.

Dr. Abdul Samad Memorial Hospital’s Managing Director, Ahmed Saeed, told RaajjeMV that one of the victims had sustained burns on nearly 50 percent of his body.

Noting that all four are still being treated at the hospital, Saeed said that they are “doing well”.

Maldives National Defene Force (MNDF) said that the cause of the fire was a gas leak.
