Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid has on Monday met with some of the Non-Resident Ambassadors and High Commissioners to the Maldives
Heads of Missions of Morocco, The Gambia, Republic of Guinea and Senegal as well as Chargé d'Affaires' from Egypt and Tunisia took part in the virtual meeting.
During the meeting, Minister Shahid and the envoys exchanged information about the evolving situation of Covid-19, as well as enhancing bilateral and multilateral relationships between the countries.
The Maldivian minister noted the close cultural and civilizational links between the Maldives and the African countries, and the shared values and principles, especially given that the countries represented at the meeting were also members of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation.
Shahid also thanked all the countries for the support extended to the Maldives during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The meeting is an initiative of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, to cultivate closer relationships and interaction between the Ministry and the Representatives accredited to the Maldives.
