President appoints high commissioners to Singapore, Bangladesh

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has on Sunday appointed high commissioners to Bangladesh and Singapore.

The president appointed Shiruzimath Sameer as the High Commissioner to Bangladesh and Ibrahim Shaheeb as the High Commissioner to Singapore.

Shiruzimath previously held the position of Additional Secretary for East and Central Asia Division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She also previously held the position of Minister-Counsellor at the Embassy of the Republic of the Maldives in Germany. Shiruzimath attained her Master of Social Science in Strategy and Diplomacy at the National University of Malaysia/Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations, Malaysia.

The new high commissioner to Singapore, Shaheeb previously held the positions of Additional Secretary, Permanent Secretary and Director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He has a Master in Public Administration from the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, Singapore, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Development Studies from the Australian National University, Canberra. Prior to his appointment on Sunday, Shaheeb served as the Chief of Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Following Shaheeb’s appointment, Aishath Shaan Shakeer has been appointed as the Chief of Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Shaan previously held the position of Maldives’ High Commissioner to Bangladesh. She previously held the positions of Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Deputy High Commissioner to Malaysia, and Deputy Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in addition to other top positions at the Ministry.
