Total Covid-19 related expenditure has reached MVR 2.7 billion.

According to the Ministry of Finance’s weekly Covid-19 spending report, total spending towards health and social efforts stood at MVR 1,312.6 million by November 5, which is a 0.4 percent increase from the previous week.

45.9 percent of total health and social spending was committed-spending.

The report notes that Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) had the highest spending within the week, at MVR 2.6 million.

National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has the highest total expenditure this far, at MVR 787.4 million. A majority of this was for supplies and requisites for service provision, which was MVR 362.8 million.

With a total expense of MVR 205.7 million in Covid-19 health and social efforts, the Ministry of Health comes second.

While IGMH was registered with the highest spending with the week, the state-run hospital has spent a total of MVR 80.6 million on health and social efforts.

  • Maldives Police Service – MVR 23.9 million
  • Ministry of Foreign Affairs – MVR 6.9 million
  • Ministry of Gender, Family and Social Affairs – MVR 3.4 million
  • Ministry of National Planning and Infrastructure – MVR 37.3 million
  • Ministry of Higher Education – MVR 3.3 million
  • National Social Protection Agency – MVR 7.7 million
  • National Drug Agency – MVR 1.1 million
  • Disaster Management Fund – MVR 84.1 million
  • Tourism Activities Implementation Fund – MVR 28.9 million

In addition, a total of MVR 1,342.1 has been spent on Covid-19 economic response spending by November 5, a 1.5 percent increase compared to the previous week.

Over the review period, MVR 125.8 million was disbursed as Income Support Allowance, and MVR 62.8 million was disbursed to utility companies for the Discount on Electricity Bills. The Finance Ministry noted that there were no additional disbursements made towards the Covid-19 Recovery Loan.
