Maldives Covid-19 tally has risen to 11,796.

Nightly statistics publicized by the Health Protection Agency (HPA) revealed that 59 new infections were confirmed by sundown on Tuesday.

The new cases include 29 Maldivians and 30 foreigners.

Tuesday's cases were confirmed out of the 1,471 samples tested between 6pm Monday and 6pm Tuesday.

26 of the new cases were discovered from the greater Malé region whereas the remaining 33 were detected from residential islands.

Further, the public health authority also reported 46 additional recoveries from the virus, which pushes the total number of Covid-19 recoveries to 10,962.

Maldives currently has 789 active coronavirus cases, out of which 216 patients are seeking treatment at isolation facilities, which is 12 less than the previous day. Further, there are 55 patients hospitalized for Covid-19 treatment, currently. This is one patient more than the previous day.

The Health Emergency Operations Center (HEOC) continues its appeal on the public to be mindful and adhere to health safety guidelines and precautionary measures even though daily cases are reportedly low in the past few days, as the virus is far from being controlled in the island nation.
