The government has publicized a list of eligible candidates who applied under the H7 category of the ‘Hiyaa’ housing scheme, who were unreachable via phone for the living standards verification process.
In a statement released on Thursday, the President’s Office revealed that the list includes eligible candidates under the H7 category for married couples, aged 18 – 40, who were who were unreachable when the authorities attempted to phone them for the physical verification process to assess their living standards.
The assessment is carried out by visiting current residences of applicants, after reaching out to the eligible applicants via telephone. The list of unreachable applicants has since been publicized in the gazette.
The President’s Office cited the Committee Investigating Public Housing Schemes having stated that their continuous attempts to reach the eligible candidates were met with failure.
All of the eligible candidates listed have been urged to fill in the form found athttps://hcc.presidency.gov.mvbefore 3pm, November 5.
The ‘Hiyaa’ housing scheme was launched during the administration of now incarcerated, former president Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom and the committee was formed in order to investigate whether the then-administration had issued flats deservedly.
Earlier, the Minister of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure had revealed that out of the total number of applicants for the housing units, the government has been able to complete the physical verification process to assess the living standards of 40 percent. Work is underway to conduct assessments for the remaining.
