Vice President Faisal Naseem has assured that the Maldivian government will ensure the safety and security of all expatriates working and residing in the Maldives.
The vice president said this during a courtesy call by the new Bangladeshi High Commissioner to Maldives, Rear Admiral Nazmul Hassan, on Monday morning.
At the meeting held at the President’s Office, Naseem congratulated Hassan on his appointment, and expressed gratitude for the Bangladeshi government’s “friendly relations and assistance provided to the Maldives”.
Citing the high number of Bangladeshi workers in the Maldives, Naseem also thanked the Bangladeshi government for the ongoing support to the Maldives' worker regularization and repatriation programmes while also assuring that the Maldivian government “will ensure the safety and security of all expatriates”.
During the meeting, the the high commissioner thanked the Maldivian government “for the efforts and assistance provided to help Bangladeshi nationals working and residing in the Maldives during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic”.
The two also discussed on taking forward bilateral cooperation in a range of fields from higher education, agriculture and other avenues for increased cooperation and collaboration.
