A hearing in the murder of Mohamed Anas has been scheduled for Monday.

The trial has been at a halt, with the last hearing in the case, on February 13 being postponed after the defence claimed to not have received case documents; and the last two scheduled hearings were cancelled.

Anas was stabbed to death by a group of masked assailants on 31 July 2017. CCTV footage shows him running into Litus Service Center in an attempt to flee his attackers; the brutal attack took place inside the garage and is caught on video as well.

The state has pressed charges against seven suspects; Ahmed Zayan, Usman Shareef and Afrah Abdul Razzaq have been charged with first-degree murder while Junaih Abdulla, Hassan Mahfooz, Mohamed Shaaz and Simah Moosa are charged with accessory to murder.

Prosecutors have presented a number of evidences against the suspects, who have pleaded “not guilty”.
