The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdulla Shahid has extended gratitude to all countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations for the support extended to the island nation amid the coronavirus crisis.
A meeting was held on Monday, where High Commissioners and Ambassadors of the ASEAN countries called on FM Shahid, virtually.
FM Shahid exchanged information regarding the evolving situation surrounding the global Covid-19 pandemic, with the envoys who participated in the meeting.
Discussions also touched down on enhancing bilateral and multilateral relationships between the countries.
Initiated by the Maldives minister, the meeting aimed to cultivate closer relationships and interaction between the Ministry and the Representatives accredited to the Maldives
ASEAN countries have always been good friends to the Maldives and the pandemic has not been an exception, said the foreign minister.
The High Commissioners of Indonesia and Malaysia accredited to the Maldives, and the Ambassadors of Laos, Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam accredited to the Maldives took part in the meeting.
