Maldives pres. pledges to “double” efforts to empower girls

Maldives President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has pledged “to double efforts to ensure that girl children get the future they deserve”.
He said this in tweet to mark this year’s International Day of the Girl Child.
President Solih stated that securing the rights of girl children include “ensuring their education, safety and equal opportunities”, adding that by doing so “we are investing in our collective future”.
Since 2012, International Girl Child Day is observed on October 11 every year with a different theme.
The main objective of this day is to empower women and help them to get their rights so that they can face the challenges all over the world and meet their needs.
The theme of International Day of the Girl 2020 is "My voice, our equal future”.
