State Trading Organization (STO) has donated safety equipment for frontliners in the country’s Covid-19 response efforts.
During an event on Sunday, Hussain Amru, the CEO and Managing Director of STO handed over the donation of 3,000 safety goggles.
The donation was received by the Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed.
The company revealed that the safety goggles can be used along with the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kits to ensure the safety of frontliners of the Maldives Police Service (MPS) in the Covid-19 response efforts.
The donation comes a little over a month after STO donated PCR machines for Covid-19 testing to the police institute.
In August, STO also installed medical equipment at the regional Covid-19 facilities across the Maldives, as a “crucial” assistance to the battle to curb the spread of the infection in the island nation. STO has also provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kits to healthcare workers.
Over 140 Covid-19 tests are carried out at the police laboratory on a daily basis.
As part of the efforts to strengthen the Covid-19 testing capacity, the government has so far made testing arrangements in five regions excluding Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) and ADK Hospital in the capital city.
