Maldives reported 99 cases of the global Covid-19 pandemic on Wednesday.
The Health Protection Agency (HPA)’s nightly publication of the latest Covid-19 statistics reveal that 92 out of the total new cases were discovered from the Greater Malé Region whereas seven were from residential islands.
65 Maldivians and 34 foreigners tested positive for the virus by 6pm, Wednesday.
With this development, Maldives Covid-19 tally has risen to 9,427.
174 patients recovered from the virus on Wednesday, this pushes the total number of fully recovered patients to 7,903.
The country currently has 1,485 active coronavirus cases, out of which 115 are hospitalized for treatment.
727 patients remain at isolation facilities currently, which is 40 less than the previous day.
The public health authority further revealed that there are active Covid-19 cases in 20 residential islands as well as 29 resorts, including 20 tourists and 47 resort workers.
The virus has taken 33 lives in the Maldives.
The number of coronavirus-stricken patients observing full recoveries from the infection has been escalating in recent days. Over the past week, the number of daily recoveries reported has been higher than daily cases.
