Have not detected a Covid-19 community spread in Hoandehdhoo island of Gaafu Dhaalu atoll, says the Health Emergency Operations Centre (HEOC).
A total of 37 Covid-19 cases have been detected from the island. While four under home quarantine had tested positive on September 3, the remaining 33 have been identified as their contacts. This is after it was reported that there were at least two cases without any links to previously confirmed case.
Dr. Nazla said that they reached the conclusion after conducting random sampling on the island. As such, she said that a number of people from the island had been tested during this process and that all samples had come back negative.
She stressed all confirmed cases have been linked to contacts, adding that it can only be described as a community spread “if the virus is spreading among people with no links to previous cases”.
