Majlis committee approves 15, out of 41 applicants for CSC membership

Civil Service Commission consists of five members

Parliament’s independent institutions committee has approved 15 out of the 41 individuals that applied for membership at the Civil Service Commission (CSC).

Committee chair and Addu-Meedhoo constituency MP Rozaina Adam announced this via Twitter on Thursday, adding that the chosen 15 are extremely qualified for the commission.

MP Rozaina also expressed hope of change, no matter who is approved to the commission.

Four positions at the Civil Service Commission became vacant on July 13. Three of them - President Ali Shameem, Vice President Shaheed Mohamed and member Zakariyya Hussain- resigned amid impeachment motions at parliament while Ibrahim Shaheeq who did not resign with the other was voted out through parliament.

48 lawmakers voted to remove Shaheeq from the commission.

Civil Service Commission consists of five members.
