Three accused of torching a police officer's vehicle, arrested

Three individuals have been arrested under the allegations of a deliberate arson attack on the vehicle of a police officer.

Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that the officer is stationed in Thinadhoo island of Gaaf Dhaal atoll and his motorcycle was taken from where it was parked near the officer’s residence, to the beach on the west of the island, where it was torched.

Police received reports of the arson close to 9pm on Saturday and have revealed that the vehicle was burnt beyond repair.

In connection to the incident, a 26-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday, followed by a 22-year-old and 18-year-old, both men, the following day.

All three arrests were made under a court order.

The case is under further investigation, assured police.
