The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has revealed that the harbor repair and dredging project in Vandhoo island of Raa atoll, is well underway.
Overall, MTCC has completed 12 percent of the project.
The company took to Twitter to reveal the progress of the project, noting that harbor basin dredging has been completed and that work is ongoing on the demolition of the existing quay wall.
MTCC went on to reveal that blocks required to construct the new quay wall have been delivered to the site.
The company was awarded the project on August 26 last year by the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure, for a value of USD 400,000.
Under the scope of the project, MTCC will be constructing a 75-meter quay walls, dredging and excavating a harbor basin measuring 1,870 cubic meters as well as demolishing existing cement bag wall structures.
Other work to be undertaken under the project includes the delivery and installation of precast blocks and backfilling of quay walls with dredged materials.
