The number of Maldivians who have tested positive for Covid-19 in the Maldives has surpassed 500.
The Covid-19 dashboard of the Ministry of Health reveals that the number currently sits at 507.
The country’s Covid-19 total reached 1,438 on Tuesday and out of the total, 35.26% is Maldivians.
The majority of Covid-19 cases confirmed in the Maldives has been of Bangladeshi nationals. As such, a total of 737 Bangladeshi nationals have tested positive for the virus thus far.
This is 51.5% of the total.
145 out of the total is Indian nationals and 22 are Nepali nationals.
Authorities have begun an operation to transfer the Bangladeshi workers forced to live in confined spaces, to better living quarters and have been in discussion to repatriate the undocumented workers living illegally in the country. Thus far, over 1,000 expatriate workers have been repatriated from the island nation.
