Maldivians must learn to live with Covid-19 pandemic until an effective vaccine is developed, says Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH)’s doctor, Moosa Murad.

Joining RaajjeTV’s Covid-19 coverage on Monday afternoon, the doctor stated that while the government is preparing to ease the lockdown declared across the Greater Malé Region, the people should make good, “responsible” use of the lockdown ease and adhere to safety instructions given by the relevant authorities.

Adding that the virus will continue to spread to some extent until a permanent vaccine is developed, Dr. Murad stated that the country will not be able to overcome the pandemic abruptly and that it will take time.

It will take everybody’s joint efforts and cooperation to control the spread of the virus, said the doctor.

As such, the people should still keep up their individual duties as a responsible citizen and act in a way that ensures the safety of everyone around them.

Further, the doctor noted that individuals who are under home-quarantine must pay special attention to ensure those around them are not put at risk of contracting the virus.
