The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has launched a probe into a disciplinary issue against Criminal Court Judge Ibrahim Ali.
JSC revealed that the issue is regarding misconduct by Judge Ali, in issuing a court order, in violation of the Maldives Constitution.
The commission has assembled an investigative committee to probe the disciplinary issue into the judge, during its 36th meeting which was held virtually.
It has been revealed that the most number of verdicts annulled by the High Court within the past three years, were made by Judge Ali.
The commission is investigating a number of judges regarding disciplinary issues, and it has thus far taken action on several justices.
One of the cases include former Supreme Court Justice Abdulla Didi who was removed from his post after being found guilty of accepting money from those involved in the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) embezzlement scandal, using his position to gain undue influence, using his influence to secure a government job for his spouse, accepting bribes, violating judicial disciplinary regulation among many others.
