Covid-19: nearly 200 frontline workers in Maldives test positive
A total of 199 have tested positive between April 16 to May 16
Most cases were identified on May 8; 51 cases
A number of police and MNDF officers have tested positive for the virus

An additional 62 frontline workers have tested positive for Covid-19.

While the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) had previously revealed that 137 frontline workers had tested positive by May 12, it has since been revealed that an additional 62 have been infected as well.

At NEOC’s press briefing on Saturday, Dr. Ibrahim Afzal stated that the number of frontline workers that tested positive for Covid-19 has reached 199.

As per the statics provided by the center, most cases involving frontline workers were identified on May 8; 51 cases.

Dr. Afzal had said that frontline workers comprise of healthcare workers as well security workers including people who work at point of entries.

It has been revealed that a number of police and Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) officers have tested positive for the virus.
