An additional 24 cases of the Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) have been confirmed in the Maldives.

The reveal was made by the Health Protection Agency (HPA) on Thursday evening, via Twitter.

As such, the authority revealed that the new cases include 20 Bangladeshi nationals, one Indian and three Maldivians.

These cases include samples taken from active surveillance of "vulnerable homes", said HPA.

With this development, the total number of Covid-19 cases confirmed in the Maldives has been pushed to 642.

Authorities are yet to determine if the new cases are linked to existing Covid-19 cases.
