Maldives Police Service (MPS) has arrested three men for unauthorized entry into Kunahandhoo island of Laamu atoll.

Police revealed that arrested were three Maldivian men and they had secretly gone to Kunahandhoo island from Maamendhoo island in the same atoll, on a body board, a little past 1am on Sunday.

Arrested were a 43-year-old, a 38-year-old and a 29-year-old. Gan Magistrate Court has since remanded the men by 15 days upon being presented at the court on Sunday.

Police continue to stress on the importance of everybody’s cooperation in order to control the spread of the COVID19 virus in the Maldives.

Unauthorized travel between islands has been banned after the discovery of a COVID19 community transmission in the capital Malé City on April 15.
