Spokesperson of the Covid-19 task force, Mohamed Mabrook Aziz has revealed that the government will be delivering essential medical supplies to Narudhoo island of Shaviyani atoll on Monday.
Speaking during a routinely press briefing on Sunday night, Mabrook noted that President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih had ordered a team of senior government officials and medical experts to be dispatched to the island after the emergence of 11 Covid-19 cases from the island.
The team was in the island on Sunday and had inspected the Covid-19 arrangements and comprised of Health Minister Abdulla Ameen, Chief of Defense Abdulla Shamaal, Police Commissioner Mohamed Hameed as well as Dr. Ali Latheef from the Covid-19 Technical Advisory Group (TAG).
The island has since been under monitoring from April 25 onward, and a total of 13 houses on the island have been placed under monitoring.
The highest number of Covid-19 cases, recorded at 11, have been discovered in the island, excluding capital city Malé, where the community transmission was detected on April 15.
