Six individuals have tested positive for the Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) from Narudhoo island in Shaviyani atoll.
This has been confirmed by a reliable source from the island.
With this development, the total number of confirmed cases on the island has reached seven.
The first individual to have tested positive to the virus on the island is the 49-year-old captain of “Amaaz” boat, after which the island was placed under monitoring.
The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has since confirmed that 101 primary contacts of the boat captain had been identified.
The captain is to have taken 98 passengers to 13 islands in the north from locked down capital city Malé.
Since then, authorities have collected 22 samples from the island.
Further, the task force on the island earlier revealed that entering and leaving has been banned for eight households.
