Indian authorities have started delivering care packages to its citizens who have tested positive for Covid-19 in the Maldives.
The Indian High Commission in Maldives revealed this via Twitter on Sunday.
According to local authorities, 13 Indian nationals -between the ages of 26 and 52- have tested positive for coronavirus in the Maldives, since a community transmission was detected in the capital on April 15.
They are among the confirmed 134 foreign Covid-19 patients thus far. Maldives has confirmed a total of 214 cases by Sunday evening; this includes 80 Maldivians.
The Indian government has bee assisting in Maldives’ Covid-19 response efforts even prior to an Indian national testing positive for Covid-19 in the archipelago nations, including in evacuating Maldivians stranded in Wuhan, China where the virus was first reported as well as sending a medical experts’ team for assistance and providing essential medicines and other supplies.
