Maldives has confirmed the 83rd case of Covid-19.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) announced this via Twitter, shortly after the confirmation of 13 other cases which includes five Bangladeshis and eight Maldivians.

Patient 83 is a Bangladeshi national and is currently being transferred to an isolation facility. Authorities are working to establish any links between the new case and previous cases.

At a press conference held in the afternoon, Dr. Ibrahim Afzal said that the individual was tested after consulting at Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).

The total of confirmed cases in the congested capital, which has been under lockdown since Wednesday, has reached 63, bringing the country's total to 83.
