The country’s national airline, Maldivian has brought medical supplies weighing about 5,000 kilograms from Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The goods were brought from Dubai and the Maldivian freighter landed at Velana International Airport (VIA) on Friday night.

Maldivian revealed that 5,000 kilograms of “mostly” essential medicines were brought from the middle-eastern nation.

This is as part of the airline’s efforts to import cargo and essential medicines through several chartered flights to foreign countries at a time borders across the globe are closing due to the Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic that has been sweeping across the globe, infecting and killing many since it emerged in China last December.

On an earlier occasion, the national airline brought 10 tonnes of cargo goods to Maldives via Thailand, Trivandrum and Chennai of India as well as Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
